Busy Weekend
Back blogging: 13th Dec - 18Dec
April was back on 13th Dec and came for meow's wedding on Sunday. =)
Stupid period came on wednesday and i'm envious that bel, urs is only like 1.5day. Dunno if something is wrong with me for always having to last like 3 days and hardly was I ever lucky to not have stained my jeans everytime my period comes.
Didn't attend meow's dinner on friday, had to teach till 8pm till I went for dinner.
Saturday was Tony Grey and Martin Valihora and Hiromi's Workshop. Super cool, super good experience talk by them most importantly is superb demos by them.
Tony Grey is really CUTE! n the bean plant said he's most likely a German. Whao! But he's short. maybe about 1.75?
Martin said he doesn't practice when someone asked about rudiments. COOL! I like that. Who says practice of rudiments is a must to be a good drummer? or any musician? But what he does is think of Africa. The rhythm, the grooves and the soul of the music. Guess he's so good not because he practice but he transcribes. He plays alot with the music he listens to. He commented that he makes mistakes constantly but great efforts were put in to ensure he comes back in time. He was like,"See! none of U realise I made mistakes while I was playing just now!"
Both of them were hilarious, constantly teasing each other about going to Africa.
Hiromi was definitely a killer. Her Tom & Jerry composition was well arranged! and that later she blurted that she studied orchestration. Her playing is unlike a girl. The power, the energy, the strength n touch n sound... very masculine. Nevertheless, she's the typical "KAWAII" jap girl. On the spot reharmonization and rephrasing of Bach's pieces and Hanon was leaving many of those stupid OLD classical teachers mouth wide agape with the "how did she do that look"
Many stupid questions were raised, one stupid OLD woman was like "how long did you take to complete your tom & jerry composition" I mean, does knowing how long she takes help you to understand the piece? There were others like "How do you care for your hands","How long do you practice everyday","How do you recommend when's a suitable age n time for one to start jazz piano?"... It's like, come'on are all those questions anyone can ask? Some girls with the fake American accent actually asked her to finish off the workshop performance with "Giant Steps". It's such a disappointment, even Hiromi mentioned she didn't want to do Giant Steps. Piano? Giant Steps? I don't remember Coltrance as a pianist... I would want to listen to Tim do Giant Steps but not Hiromi.
Well, luckily it didn't turned into Tze Chin workshop! =) and Tze, Hiromi admitted herself that having classical training is good. So nx time stop saying playing classical and practicing technique is a waste of time!
Too bad Meow's wedding is the next day, am very sad to have to miss her performance, not knowning when she'll be back again... will bug joyce...
Meow's wedding. Went back to bean plant's house to sleep after the workshops. Stay overnight is a no no with period woes and bathing issues. Not to mention even being able to sleep. Bean plant was late, sobs, he told me, very fast one... sighz...
So, bel n meow didn't get any sleep and Mok got strands of hair cut off during his sleep. Tee hee hee... Seriously, kill me, I'll never ever agree to be the brides maid nor receptionist anymore. It's tiring... and bel without sleeping, is definitely shagged out...
Guy knight is superbly disorganized and uncle was taking away my namelist most of the time. Glad meow's list is neat and legible, plus, Huiying knows most of her frens who turned up. Maybe it's time to send the man back for some disciplinary training... which reminds me that the bean plant is going for his 1st reservist soon...
Food wasn't fantastic, especially mushroom was tough... Dining atmostphere was great though. Guess hotel food is much much better, by order of good wedding food of hotels,
1) Grand Plaza Park Royal (Beach Road)
2) Grand Plaza Park Royal (The Penninsular there)
3) Carlton
4)Meritus Mandarin (Orchard)
5) Swiss Hotel (City hall)
The pig is a born gourment, when it comes to good food, it has to be the best to get the recommendation. So most of the time, the pig is just the pig eating junk. Hahahahaha
I seriously shall insist that my wedding in the future is fuse free. ROM + Wedding all at once. Buffet lunch or dinner and that's it. Anybody who wants shark fin's soup can jolly well go fly kite. Save the sharks plus most of the time, the shark fin may not be real one.
Any Lavish dinner request, those people can pay for it, I DONT WANT it, at ALL! To spend on announcing a marriage is seriously the most stupid tradition of chinese. Plus, must wake up early, trouble people to be bridesmaid and bestmen. The men must kenna tekkan, wait outside and get tekkan and must pay money before he gets the bride? What the hell is that? And what the hell a tea ceremony is for? I dont understand this tradition, neither do I want to be part of it. It's impractical and wasting of time. Just let everyone sleep, be energised and attend everything at one go right! or like what bel said, get married in some nice chapel overseas then announce u're married when u're back. or Best, have a baby and hold the full month dinner all at once.
If a wedding dinner has 20 tables and each table cost about 800-900, about $18000 is spend on food that comes out as shit from everyone's stomach at the end of the day. I think $18000 could be put to better use... like a nice full month of honeymoon backpacking n travelling around the world.
I love the rain, the bean plant is in KL, I need to do my arranging. I'll make an effort to request for some real jazz examiners like Tim, Darren, Belinda and Josh to mark me. Julia is a classical teacher. I don't think she understand jazz from then to now. I ain't letting any non appreciative of jazz music people to mark me down. =)
Lotsa stuff to discuss with Lindsay when sch reopens I guess. Work hard Le'Rain workie hard!
