  Say no to Noise

Joyce Koh is heading the new School of the Arts as head of music.

I think music in Singapore will be going very much down hill and dead.

B told me she seriously hates her music, as well as L from the Tang Quartet. With her husband heading the music tech course in Lasalle SIA, I think Singapore Music is likely to doom and flooded with "Noise" than REAL music.

I like B's metaphor of Emperor's New Clothes. I think this is what is exactly what is happening in Singapore. People whao and wa at the music or so called music beng created but inside those people are all empty shells.

Picasso painted the usual trees and eggs and portraits before studying philosphy and trying to paint the inner world of human beings.

Debussy did everything tonal before attempting on the A-tonal.

Coltrane and Miles did everything from foundation before exploring the free.

Now, any tom dick or harry paints a dot on a piece of paper or splatter a whole brush of paint and calls their work art. But when you ask them to draw, they can't even draw a portrait.

When tonal music is still very much part of the society, i seriously hope nobody through political means will try to bring the fucking UK kind of down falling Contemporary 20th century classical music into Singapore and contaminate the young minds of today.

Am drafting a letter to the MOE minister to complain big time! but gimme my cert first. =p
