  Angela Hewitt

An amazing performance by a 49 yr old lady from Canada.

It's amazing how she managed to memorise all 48 preludes and fugues plus perform it with ease!

I have never owned book 2, not to say hear of the other 24 of it. However, today, I feel that the book 2 is so much more well conceived than book 1.

Her book 1 was played with much rubato which gave a new perspective to how I view Bach's pieces now. It made sense as the eyes followed the notes. Her playing told stories so vividly. One can almost feel what Bach was feeling when he composed and played them. Her brain is obviously VERY divided that it feels alien-like to hear her play. Her 10 intervals were played with ease and clarity. I can imagine I have to jump as my hands are small. Her voices in fugues were so clear, especially the inner main subjects in the alto and tenor parts. Touch, dexterity, control all seemed so easy to excute...

Book 2 was nevertheless a terrific performance. She was funny, smacking her own forehead when she forgotten the next lines yet she regained composure and started right from the top. Phew... this is one of the best classical concerts I have ever been to. I wonder, when will Spore produce a top pianist. Vanessa n Huimin are both violinist..

It was a bad sucky day though the music did helped to calm down some thoughts. Shall elaborate more in the next blog as "THAT SOMEONE" is beside me and sulking.
